Obama's pros and cons?

By wktd | January 6, 2009

  • I have asked this question before, and got almost 30 questions with no substance. So, either his cons outweigh the pros or nobody really knows anything about him that sticks out. This is an honest question because, I really need to see what everyone else sees!

  • Pro: He's not a crook Republican
    Con: That's the Republican's job.

  • Only cons, no pros.

  • Pros: will implement a universal health care system, will increase taxes on the rich

Cons: voted to amend FISA, supported the bailout plan

  • Cons:Obama worked closely with terrorist Bill Ayers and we still do not know what he wants for the Middle East.Where does he stand when it comes to Israel or Palestinian?Does he know where he stands?Obama Lacking experience to be president of The United States of America this election. My dad told me about Jimmy Carter.Obama is just like Jimmy Carter.
Whether it's the windfall profit tax, Cuba or Iran Senator Barack Obama says "Yes we can" to the failed policies of the administration of President Carter and "Yes we can" to the ideas adopted after he lost in 1980.
Obama wants to raise taxes on businesses making over $250000 a year, So businesses can go up on the price of goods,That would hurt all people.
    Pros:He will not win.

  • take of your blinders and wash your face with cold water.

  • Pros: Obama dresses nice, reads a teleprompter well, and is good at gathering all kinds of money for his campaign.
Cons: Obama is naive when it comes to foreign policy, naive when it comes to domestic policy, lies more than Bill Clinton, and has many shady characters as friends.

  • He has demonstrated intelligence, the ability to weigh both sides of a complex issue in order to come out with a reasoned response, and as a constitutional scholar (he taught constitutional law) he knows and most important, has a deep respect for the Constitution of the U.S.

    And this:
-After a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

-His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent.

-Obama created the Illinois Earned Income Tax Credit for low-income working families in 2000 and successfully sponsored a measure to make the credit permanent in 2003. The law offered about $105 million in tax relief over three years.

-Obama joined forces with former U.S. Sen. Paul Simon (D-IL) to pass the toughest campaign finance law in Illinois history. The legislation banned the personal use of campaign money by Illinois legislators and banned gifts from lobbyists. Before the law was passed, one organization ranked Illinois worst among 50 states for its campaign finance regulations.

-As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan.

-He traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world.

-Obama has been a leading advocate for protecting the right to vote, helping to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act and leading the opposition against discriminatory barriers to voting.

    - In the U.S. Senate, Obama introduced the STOP FRAUD Act to increase penalties for mortgage fraud and provide more protections for low-income homebuyers, well before the current subprime crisis began.

-Obama sponsored legislation to combat predatory payday loans, and he also was credited with lobbied the state to more closely regulate some of the most egregious predatory lending practices.

-Barack Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 to provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase the number of full-time workers in America relative to those outside the US; maintain their corporate headquarters in America; pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement; provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in the military.

-Obama worked to pass a number of laws in Illinois and Washington to improve the health of women. His accomplishments include creating a task force on cervical cancer, providing greater access to breast and cervical cancer screenings, and helping improve prenatal and premature birth services.

-Obama has introduced and helped pass bipartisan legislation to limit the abuse of no-bid federal contracts.

-Obama and Senator Feingold (D-WI) took on both parties and proposed ethics legislation that was described as the "gold standard" for reform. It was because of their leadership that ending subsidized corporate jet travel, mandating disclosure of lobbyists' bundling of contributions, and enacting strong new restrictions of lobbyist-sponsored trips became part of the final ethics bill that was signed into law.

  • Pros: Obama's campaign.
    Cons: His supporters.

  • pro: he's a GREAT con

  • HE has no pros, only cons.

  • He's a politician. Maybe he'll be ok and maybe he won't. Everyone always looks to the individual to make these sweeping opinions about politics when in reality it's the system that's flawed and we elect the people who are the very standard bearers of this system. Very few if any real "outsiders" will ever make it into the top echelons of our government. If you don't like who runs for office then change the system that they represent. Otherwise we'll always be forced to vote for the lessor of two evils and not the best man.

And to the original poster.....Do your research and don't just ask opinions and judge for yourself.

  • Cons: He is a Socialist. He is an elitist and even though he once pretended to stand for blacks, he doesn't anymore. He is the eighth cousin to VP Dick Cheney. Celebrities support him which is usually bad. He supported a law in which if a fetus lived through an abortion and was born to become a newborn, he said it was alright to let it go without food in order to finish the abortion. He does not want you to keep your tax dollars. He promises free medical and lower taxes but the two cannot coexist. He has a round about plan for a draft. He want's you to have no guns, so when the government decides to take everything from you, you'll have no way to defend yourself.
He really has no pros except if he gets into office, some black people will feel that because he is half black that it will be a step up for them. But instead he will sell black Americans down the river once in office. But he will be the first person to break constitutional law to become President by being born outside of the United States.

  • Pro's: Fair in taxes. Nice stand regarding the War in Iraq. Promised to catch Ben Ladin. Not an Islamophobe. Liberal to some extent. Better than McCain. Has good old Joe Biden as his VP.

Con's: He's far inferior to Ron Paul who would have been the greatest president ever to govern America. Too bad many people let Paul down.

  • Pros. Educated, (better than any US president we ever had, except Clinton). Sees a unity is a way to embrace our diversity. believes that taxing people should give everyone the benefit, not just big corporations.

Cons: Did not travel much around the world.

    Obama'08

  • obama is a "pro" at being a "con"

  • CONS: He is terribly inexperienced. Palin has lightyears more experience than he does and she's a VP candidate!

He has a very questionable past having known associations with an unrepentent terrorist.

PROS: He is able to deliver good (but empty) rhetoric that certainly appeals to the less-educated.... less motivated listener/voter.

    He dresses well.

  • PRO: intelligent, engaging , knowledgeable, reaches to middle & lower class, extending peace to the world, family oriented, a,llows gay marrige, comprehensive future planning, much more

CONS: wants timetable for end of war, is he authentic?,, radical ideas america might not be ready for, he will be attacked & stalled by most of congress conservatives? inexperience, properly vetted? more i can think later i bet

  • This is just great! Even his fans cannot say WHAT GOOD HE HAS DONE>>>you know why?

He hasn't accomplished a dammmn thing....and he'll do even less for us if he buys his way into office...150 million?
Isn't this the same man who wants us to share our hard earned paychecks with everyone else?
Why is he not using his campaign millions to help the 100k homeless children...or fund the deprived single parents in inner cities..or feed the millions of hungry poor in the urban and southern townships..or? what a piece of poo he really is--and the worst thing is he's insincere and a liar!

  • Pros: Superior intelligence, smart and progressive tax proposals that will put the proportions of the gluttonous CEOs and their hardworking employees back in check, getting our troops the hell out of Iraq so we can use that $10 billion a month HERE IN AMERICA, no close ties to lobbyists like my friend John Mccain, greater emphasis on education especially for the poor which will help eliminate crime in YOUR neighborhood, mandated health care for the helpless children of America, wants to be energy independent in 10 years!!!

    Cons: What's not to like!?!?!?!?!?

  • Just another opinion but interesting

    http://underthehill.wordpress.com/2008/0...

  • Pros:He's well spoken, has the ability to inspire a crowd, and has big plans for what he wants to do.Of course Adolph Hitler had all that too,and we can see in History how well all that worked out.

Cons:He is a complete Socialist, who would change this Country in ways that are not even close to what this Country was intended to be. He views those who are successful in life as needing to be punished for their success, and views those who are total losers as people who should be rewarded for their mediocrity. He places absolutely no value on human life(Born Alive Infant Protection Act) He opposes even some of the most basic underpinnings of our society,as is evidenced by his views on Illegal Immigration and the 2nd Amendment just to name two.

I really can't imagine why anyone would vote for him, unless they're just tired of living in a Free Country.

    NObama 08'

    August 4 President

  • Pros: Tough, determined, eloquent, polished, well educated, accomplished, serious, focused, calm in the face of adversity, published author, well respected among his peers, great organizer and a fund raiser without equal
    Cons: Inexperienced
